Mrs. Matthews’ ‘FUN’ Classroom BEHAVIOR System
Room 3 Parents & Students:
MY classroom management tool is called Class Dojo. Class Dojo is a web based program which allows teachers to track students’ positive behaviors easily and efficiently. The program is based on points. I will assign each student their own Dojo (see image above) and every day your child will be able to earn a Dojo point. Each student will be given a Green positive Dojo point at the end of the day for following class rules. On the other hand, the Dojo point may not be given if a student breaks a class rule. I will show the students their Dojo every afternoon so see how many points he/she has earned.
At the end of the day, students will use their Monthly Behavior Log. They will color a green for a ‘GOOD Dojo day’, a yellow for an ‘Okay Dojo day’, and a red for an ‘I Can Do Better Dojo day’. This is an at-home visual for both you and your child and is kept in the back pocket of your child’s Bear Binder.
After 20 positive Good Green Dojo Days, your child will be able to “cash in” the points for a special trip to our treasure chest! Then, he/she can begin all over again to earn 20 more positive Dojo points. Then, he/she will earn another trip to the treasure chest! Please remember to keep the Monthly Behavior Log in the back pocket of your child’s Bear Binder, until your child has ‘cashed’ in their Dojo points for that month.
If your child receives a yellow or red Dojo Day, I will be sure to send home a Behavior Reflection Form for both you and your child to sign. Please discuss the behavior your child exhibited during the day and the choices he/she made, and will make next time. Please return this to school the next day, so I know you communicated with your child about his/her yellow or red Dojo day.
My hope is that this will help you better understand the progress of your child’s behavior on a daily basis and it will be FUN for your child at the same time! It’s a WIN-WIN!
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Mrs. Mindy Matthews
